Why did we reject your application?

Hall Aitken conducted an evaluation on the first year of the Community Spaces programme.

The report showed that over a third of the total number of rejected applications were turned down because of insufficient information. For example, some applicants did not provide any details about the project proposal – simply putting ‘MUGA’ as an answer, without explaining what sports it would cater for.

The findings for reasons for rejection are detailed in this table:

Reason Percentage of rejected applications
Lack of information 32%
Insufficient funds 19%
Did not address outcomes 10%
Lack of budget information 9%
Lack of public access 6%
Lack of evidence of need 5%

Applicants are advised to read the programme information sheet before applying.

20 per cent of applications ineligible

Almost 20% of the 700 applications received by the Community Spaces programme do not meet the essential eligibility criteria. To help potential applicants overcome this the Community Spaces team have put together some advise for community groups hoping to apply.

The advise note to applicants emphasises some of the requirements of the programme and provides some context for what the programme will fund.
