Charlton Brook Dam - Sheffield, before the work on site began.

A couple of months ago we posted a blog piece about the Friends of Charlton Brook, in Sheffield, who secured £48k from Community Spaces to restore an old dam.

Michelle Tilney, from the Friends group, recently posted a progress update on their original story and also sent us some photographs of the work on site - follow this link to get an update on progress and see the photographs.

Thanks for the update Michelle, looks like you guys have been working really hard!

Friends of Charlton Brook angle £48k

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The Friends of Charlton Brook in Sheffield have received £48k from the Community Spaces fund to restore a dam to attract more anglers, walkers, and wildlife watchers.

The accumulation of silt in the dam has shrunk it to half its original size!  The dam will be de-silted to improve ecology and encourage more people to visit the area.
