A dream come true for Shirley

ShirleyMuirAfter years of campaigning for money to transform Knaresborough’s Park Square, Shirley Muir of the Friends of Park Square group was delighted with the results of everyone’s hard work at the launch on Saturday 28 November 2009.

The Friends of Park Square were granted £16,885 from the Community Spaces programme for the drainage and re-surfacing of an old cobbled square.

The renovations have helped preserve the history of the square and have made it a more welcoming place for residents, shoppers  and passers by to sit and socialise.

Commenting on the success of the launch event, Shirley said: “People flocked to the square in droves to see the Mayor cut the ribbon.

“The sun shone, the band played, and the Town Cryer was on top form. The day went better than my wildest dreams!”
